Dear Kidder Memorial UMC Member and Friend,
Kidder Memorial UMC’s worship services and group gatherings are cancelled for the next few weeks, at least until April 13th due to the COVID-19 flu pandemic. These cancelations are in compliance with nation’s Centers for Disease Control, New York State and Chautauqua County Health Departments’ recommendations to reduce to the spread of the virus. They are especially meant to reduce the risk of infecting seniors, and others who may have reduced immunity. As people of faith, we look to “love our neighbors as we love ourselves.” We would not want to spread the COVID-19 virus to a more vulnerable person. This could happen even if we are not feeling ill.
Kidder is exploring ways to worship together via phone conferencing and/or meeting on-line. We’ll have more information to share with you about that in a day or two. In the meantime, do stay in touch with each other via phone and other electronic media. Hold one another in prayer. Remember those who might be a risk for food insecurity — who might need meals or groceries brought to them. If they don’t have someone to assist them, please don’t hesitate to contact me at thomaslebeau9@gmail.com, (716) 488-1680 (office) or, if it’s urgent, at (585) 410-4346 (cell).
Our Bishop Mark Webb concluded his message to the Upper New York Conference with the following words of encouragement. I pray that you, too, find comfort and strength in them,
May we trust in a new and deeper way the words of the Psalmist, found in Psalm 46: “God is our refuge and strength, a very present help in trouble. Therefore, we will not fear though the earth should change, though the mountains shake in the heart of the sea…The Lord of hosts is with us; the God of Jacob is our refuge.” Thanks for being the Church! The Spirit of God is with us, in us and moving through us! Blessings!
God’s strength and wisdom to you,
Pastor Tom LeBeau
